Unable to activate Maya 2014 error 110

When attempting to activate my license for student version of Maya 2014 on Mac , I keep getting error 110 and error 20. 

I have tried uninstalling, installing Service Pack 3 & 4, reinstallling, but the problem remains. 

I can now no longer open the program, it just loads in the dock but doesn't actually open.
When searching for the maya license in /var/flexlm, there is no file for Maya, could this be the problem?

I need the program urgently!

I've tried all of that but it didn't fix anything
