Ultimate and Premium on the same system

Could there be any possible issue or conflict with having a Network version of Building Design Suite Ultimate installed side-by-side, on the same system, with a Standalone Building Design Suite Premium?

Thanks in advance,

Alexw

Hello Alex!

You should be able to install both of these side by side on the same machine as long as you do so in the appropriate cascading order (typically lowest to highest price), which would be Building Design Suite Premium and then Ultimate.

Please accept as a solution if this fully answers your inquiry, or reply with additional questions as needed.

Thanks for the reply Philip.

I also submitted an SR and here's what I got back.

You cannot have side by side network and standalone installs of the same product from the same release year so if you attempt to install ultimate after premium it will tell you many of the products are already installed. In addition, Revit will only work if the product it is launching with is the same license type as the AutoCAD was install with (IE. standalone Revit needs a standalone AutoCAD). If you have any additional questions feel free to reply back.

Hi Alex,

In this case we're both right. If you install Building Design Suite Ultimate (BDSU) after Building Design Suite Premium (BDSP) is already installed, the software will tell you that some of the products are already installed which is very much so true. As such, only the components that are not contained in the BDSP package, will be included in the BDSU installation.

Opening any of the BDSP components would pull your standalone license, while opening any of the BDSU components that are not contained in the BDSP package will pull a network license.

Please check out the Building Design Suite Comparison Matrix for a detailed component listing of each suite version.

Hope that helped clarify!
