Transparent viewports in 3ds Max 2012 and 2013

Hi, I've been trying for the past 2 days to install 3ds Max onto Windows 32-bit inside VirtualBox and although it seems to install just fine, in both the 2012 and the 2013 versions I keep getting the same transparent viewport glitch where it only shows the window behind 3ds Max (see screenshot). Any ideas how to fix this or what the issue could be? Any help is appreciated.

Alright so I'll either have to dual boot Windows and Linux or use Boot Camp on my Mac. Thanks for your quick response! ^_^
