A culprit that has been identified is a license denial. We are "forcing"
the variables that get "reset" to our desired settings when AutoCAD opens a
drawing now to compensate for this issue.
It is possible that custom applications written in house or acquired
elsewhere fail to reset values they change during operation or when a user
cancels it prematurely. If you use many you might find that one of them
contributes in some way.
In our case the denial issue seemed to be the sole enemy.
