Student Trial Inventor Professional 2017

I am attempting to install Student Trial Inventor Professional 2017 on my home desktop.  The installation fails.  On the Installation File Log the last 2 items reads "Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable  (x64) Failed Installation Aborted, Result = 1619.  I have more than enough disc space.  I currently have a Student Trial Inventor 2016.  Could this be a problem?  Will I have to delete 2016 before I can load 2017?

Hello Scary99

It looks like you are seeing Error 1619 while trying to install a program. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Downloading Previous Versions of Autodesk Software Using the Virtual Agent (Please be sure to disable your firewall and anti-virus before downloading)

Autodesk program installation fails

BIM 360 Add-in install error: "A newer version of this software is already installed"

@Scary99

You need to provide the entire log file information..  Just stating from a couple of lines is not going to help.  Most times the error has occurred earlier..

However your installation is probably failing due to the method your using and it has nothing to do with having Inventor 2016 already installed on your machine.

Download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

If you want the full recommended installation steps, click on the installation link in my signature.

However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.  Posting info: Sometimes installation log files contain personal information such as your serial #.  Prior to posting your log file please make sure to remove such info.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.

I remember that I had problems downloading other Autodesk programs in the past and the solution was to disable McAfee.  I will try again when I make it back home.  Thanks for the info.

Hello @Scary99,

You can run through the steps before downloading and installing, to be more successful.

  • Log in as an Administrator
  • Empty your TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Explorer and hit Enter
  • Temporarily disable your Antivirus software
  • Temporarily disable UAC:  Windows 7Windows 10

Please keep us posted on your progress. Thank you.
