Server.exe Installation prevention

Hello, I just downloaded Autodesk 3ds Max 2012 and I have an issue:  The program server.exe is preventing me from completing my instalation.

-I have checked my hard drive

-I have searched Task Manager

Please help so I can import Oblivion Mods into Skyrim!

Welcome to the community.  And I love your enthusiasm to get this working!  Smiley Very Happy

Post a screenshot of your error and the installation log if you can.

Also, have you checked your Task Manager processes tab to see if server.exe is something running?  You might be able to end the process.  In my IT experience, server.exe is often times a trojan virus.

Let me know.

Yes, I have checked my processes,  not sure how to acquire the instal logs as I am a novice,

I have considered a virus also so I am running Microsoft Security Essentials AND Spybot S&D full scans and if I find anything I will report back their results.

Thanks for the speedy replies!

I fixed the problem

In order to fix this issue follow these steps:

-Go to your task manager

-Select the Performance Tab

-Click on Resource Monitor (requires administator rights)

-Click on the Memory tab

-Type ser and look for server.exe (You can also organize by name clicking the Image button)

-Stop server.exe and start your installation!

Now enjoy 3ds Max However you want!

Thanks for the help:  ish 🙂  now off to go put Oblivion Mods into skyrim!
