Revit MEP 2011 cannot be installed.

Every time, it shows me Installation Failed, autodesk Revit MEP 2011 not installed.

And "You may view the installation log file for more information"

The log file shows the following informaiton.

Hi,

Try first to rename "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B" in "-F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B" and install again.

If it doesn't work do the same with :

rename the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B and install again.

I went to the Registry Editor, but I cannot find the file you mentioned in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. I can only find the file in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

What I do is to add a "-"before the name, is that all?

Yes just add - before the name.

 I think that nstaller could not remove an old version of VC++ 2005.

Can I uninstall MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable from my control panel?

Is this going to affect other software?

It affect other software if they use MS Visual C++ 2005.

If you reinstall it, you will have no problem with other program.

After I rename the registry key and uninstall my VC++ , the installation still fails.

Still with the same error ?

If yes, uninstall all  Visual C++ (2005 or 2008) and use Microsoft Cleanup utility .

After relaunch install.
