Revit Lic Manager: port exception rule on our FireWall

Hello,

i am installing Revit MEP 2010 license manager on a Win7 pro machine.

Both  the server machine and the client machines are located behind our main firewall (sonicwall-2040).

Both Machines have their own Firewall disabled.

My questions is whether i still need to create port exceptions on the sonicwall firewall?  In my understanding is that the sonicwall is filtering traffic from the WAN and not between the LAN machines.  Am i correct?

Thanks...

Hi,

you don't have to configure port exception on your sonic firewall. It is filtering traffic for and frm the Wan.

It's only on the license server and on the client you have to configure filtering rule for revit.

So you are correct.

thanks for the confimation Frank,

I am sure i would need to configure the sonicwall (firewall) if i decide to connect to the server remotely... but that does not look like it will be in the near future, cause i m still not connected within the firewall yet.
