Revit 2014 - Licensing 30: failed to start AdLM

Hi there,

after reading most of the posts regarding Error 30: failed to start AdLM at this forum and through google it troubles me that my problem still exists.

I'm a student and recently downloaded and installed Autodesk Revit 2014 through the Autodesk Education Community (http://students.autodesk.com/). After the installation i tried to open the programm and had to experience the following:

- Revit 2014 Startup/Loading Window shows up

- Revit 2014 Userinteface shows up... but before i can do anything...

- Autodesk Revit Licensing 30: failed to start AdLM (Error-Messagebox pops up...)

So i tried several solutions found on the internets:

- Run Installation Setup - Repair -> not helping

- Uninstall/Reinstall -> not helping but surely timeconsuming

- "Clean" Uninstall/Reinstall, including deleting Autodesk entrys from registry -> not helping

- Creating second account (first one was with private e-mailadress and gave me the wrong university so i assumed that could be the problem) Reinstall with new serials -> not helping

- Uninstall and stuff... Installing 30 Day Trial Version -> not helping, still the same Error

I hope someone here has any clue what the problem might be or even better, how to fix it.

Thanks anyway,

have a nice day.

Hi mueller.peter,

Welcome to Autodesk Discussion Group.

Do you have inherent restriction or system policies imposed within on your machine and setup? If so, please refer to the information on the settings to allow (or avoid) in order to minimize such permission issues in this Technical Solution.

If you are sure all is in place, please delete the adsk*.data file to force re-activation.

**Please note that this will force re-activation for all Autodesk product currently installed in your machine.

To delete the licensing info, backup and remove these files:

On Vista, Windows 7 or 8
C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data
C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data.?backup

On Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data.backup

Thank you.

Hi aaronhai,

thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately i dont think your solution solved my problem.

I installed and started Revit 2014 with my Administrator Account.

I read somewhere disabling UAC could help but it didnt.

I dont know of any other restrictions that could be in place.

I was surprised to see that i didnt have any FLEXnet folders in /ProgramData.

Now i have one FLEXnet folder but this one was just recently installed after i tried to install FLEXnet server (http://www.globes.com/support/fnp_utilities_download.htm#downloads) to maybe solve the licensing error.

Its in /ProgramFiles and contains FlexNet Publisher License Server Manager.

It didnt help. I assume this server had nothing to do with my student license.

Maybe i installed/uninstalled something wrong. I'll try it again and hope for the best.

(Edit: FYI: I tried the Installation with the downloadmanager and the browser download. Maybe something failed to install.]

Alright, no Revit on Win 8 for me. :smileysad: I'm done deleting and installing all the time.

Last thing i tried was this...

How to remove all Autodesk products from a Windows system

Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled

Btw. installed it on Win 7 64bit, runs on first try.

I have the same issue of mueller.peter and I think this is a recurring problem, so Autodesk really should take this problem very seriously.

Anyway I reached by myself exactly the same solutions of Peter with the same results.

I still don't have Revit2014, student edition, in my Asus K55V laptop with Win8.

Anyone can help us?
