"pit.config is not found" in installing AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 x64

I was trying to install AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 x64 on a Vostro 1510 Dell Laptop running 64-bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise. After installation, when i want to start program, it shows registration window again and when I enter my registration information it shows "pit.config is not found!" error. I try deletion of ProductInformation.pit but nothing changes and I'm receiving the same error.

Deleting your ProductInformation.pit file is going to be problematic for you. You shouldn't do this. If you did not back up this file prior to deletion, you will likely have to reinstall at this point. Deleting this file will also affect other installed Autodesk products from 2010 to 2011 and keep them from launching properly.

It certainly wouldn't hurt! Might give it a shot and see if you get any different results.

It seems that this problem had been in Autodesk Products since 2010 version and Autodesk said http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13540825&linkID=9240657 and it absolutely doesn't help.

When i want to use AutoCAD Map 3d 2011 as trial i recieve "1: 5 2: adlmPITSetProductInformation failed. 3: 26".

Couldn't Autodesk find a solution for this error?

Please zip up the contents of C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm then post to this forum thread. I'd also like to see a System Information file (.nfo):

1. From the Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information .

2. From the File menu choose Save .

3. Save a .nfo file and post to this forum thread.

Are there any files, such as "adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data" and "adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data_backup.001", in the C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet folder?

The only thing that looks out of place is the serial number you have used.

Try this:

1. Uninstall AutoCAD Map 3D 2011.
2. Delete this folder: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm.
3. Reinstall AutoCAD Map 3D using 000-00000000 or a valid serial number.
4. Start AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 and try running without activation. What is the result?
5. Then go ahead and try activating. If you used 000-00000000 as the serial number you can enter a valid serial number at this activation time. What is the result?

I did what you said.

1- When i want to enter 000-000000 password with my product code,it says that my password is invalid.
2-I try to install software as trial first. after installation same errors appeared. when i want to install it as a trial "1: 5 2: adlmPITSetProductInformation failed. 3: 26" appeared and when i want to install it with serial number "pit.config is not found" appeared.

I think if this problem was about serial number, the software would install as a trial without any problem.

It looks like everything has installed correct but the Activation process is failing. More specific, maybe, is that it is not or cannot create the trusted storage file for the license management service. I'd still like to see the installer log files. Please follow these instructions and post the .log files:

1. Launch Windows Explorer.

2. Type %temp% in the Address bar.

3. Look for these two files:

AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 Setup.log

AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 install.log

If we can't solve this one I want to be able to submit this to the developers for their review. Resolving an invalid serial number would be a small detail they would catch at first glance.

Can you also resubmit the contents of the ADLM folder?

The installer is returning a 1603 error. This has several causes: computer needs a reboot, permissions issue, media issue... My guess is a permissions problem (or other application, driver, etc...) is preventing the startup and activation; maybe even preventing the creation of the trusted storage file. The trusted storage file would be created in the FLEXnet folder.

Start here: What are user permission settings for the FLEXnet and Adlm folders we have been looking at? Do they inherit their permissions from their parent folder? Is your user account included in the folder properties for Security or a member of one of the groups with Write or Modify permissions? Power Users and Administrators should, by default have the necessary permissions. My computer has the addition of Everyone with Modify privileges for the FLEXnet folder.

Then try Diagnostic Mode with the "FLEXnet Licensing Service" (Do you have this service listed here?) enabled, reboot and try to run in Trial. Also try a repair or reinstall from Add and Remove Programs then start AutoCAD Map 3D again.

If this does not work another idea is to create a new local Administrative user and try from that user. Otherwise I may be out of ideas and will need to see if the Developers can come up with a solution.

I installed a clean Windows and the software installed without any problem !
I thought of Visual Studio 2008 as the problem.
