Question about LMtools for 2006/2007 license

Hi,

My company bought 13 Network licenses of Revit Structure Series 3, but actually i have 16 network licenses of AutoCAD 2006. The LMtools for 2006 license are not compatible with 2007 license.

The question is: if i uninstall the NLM for 2006 products and install NLM for 2007 products this is compatible with the old 2006 license?

Thanks

Hi matias,

LMtools 2006 (10.1.5) can serve 2006 licence and 2007. (you can't use the
Plist options in that case)
LMtools 2007 (10.1.8) can serve 2006 licence.
Network Installation wizard 2007 can only create 2007 image.

When upgrading the license server use the easy method as outlined in this
doc
http://jtbworld.blogspot.com/2005/04/upgrade-autodesk-network-license.html
This way you do not have to uninstall and reinstall.
It is very easy to do
Plan ahead and you can do it in less than a minute.
I did 4 servers during working hours and did not here a peep from any of the
users.

The new version will read the old product license files.
I run Revit 9 and ADT 2005

Agreed. No reason to uninstall and reinstall.

1. Open LMTOOLS
2. Stop the Service from Start/Stop/ReRead tab
3. Close LMTOOLS
4. Copy the 4 .exe files from your 2007 media and overwrite the existing files in C:\Program Files\Autodesk Network License Manager\ (Might backup first)
5. Lauch LMTOOLS & verify new version from Help > About
6. Start the Service from Start/Stop/ReRead tab
7. Verify that it recognizes the new license file(s)

You can easily do this during production time even with network applications running. Your users won't even know the NLM has been stopped and upgraded. You have about a 6 minute grace period, but it should only take a few seconds to do.

Step 2a. don't forget to check the force server shutdown box.
