Make sure you have local admin rights and do a repair install. Post your results here. Good luck!

If your error message is "AutoCAD component has encountered a problem and needs to close".This message indicates a problem with one of the Microsoft components that are required for AutoCAD to run successfully.

To resolve the problem, please do the following:

Boot the machine into diagnostic mode as follows:

  1. Click Start > Run > type msconfig and press ENTER
  2. On the General tab, select "Diagnostic Startup"
  3. Switch to the "Services" tab
  4. Put a checkmark in the box next to "Windows Installer" Service
  5. Click OK to reboot with the changed configuration

After the machine has rebooted, log on as Administrator and do the following:

  1. Via the control panel, uninstall all installed versions of Microsoft .NET Framework
  2. Likewise uninstall all installed versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
  3. Reboot again into diagnostic mode as descibed above
  4. Insert the AutoCAD 2010 DVD
  5. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the DVD and open the folder ..\x86\ if running a 32-bit operating system, or \x64 if running a 64-bit operating system.
  6. Open the folder \support\dotnetfx\wcu\dotNetFramework and execute the file dotNetFx35setup.exe to reinstall Microsoft .NET 3.5
  7. Navigate to the folder ..\support\VCRedist\2008\x86 and execute the file install.exe to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

Next, boot the machine into normal Windows mode:

  1. Click Start > Run > type msconfig and press ENTER
  2. On the General tab, select "Normal Startup"
  3. Click OK to reboot with the changed configuration

After the machine has rebooted, start AutoCAD and attempt to reproduce the problem

I'd do exactly what the error says. Reinstall with admin rights.
