Opening ports - Fusion 360

I'm trying to get Fusion 360 trial to work.  It can't connect.  The knowledgebase says that you need to check for ports 80 and 443 to be open.  I did netstat -a and they are not listening.

So what would be the next step?  How would I open them and open them to what?  Is this something that requires network admin access or can I do it at client computer level?

Are you able to log into the below website successfully? This will verify that your account has been configured properly on the server-side.

https://myhub.autodesk360.com/

You may try making the following changes.

Add some exceptions for the domains utilized by Fusion 360 in the Bypass Proxy Settings (Mac OS):

  1. Choose > Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network
  2. Choose the network service you use from the list, for example, Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
  3. Click Advanced, then click Proxies
  4. Copy and paste the domains below in the Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains field.

Bypass proxy settings.jpg

*.autodesk.com, *.virtualearth.net, *autodesk360.com, *.cloudfront.net, *.google-analytics.com, *.akamaiedge.net, *.amazonaws.com, *.getsatisfaction.com, *.autocadws.com, *.akamaintechnologies.com, *.msecnd.net, *.microsoft.com, *.google.com, *.edgekey.net, *.newrelic.com, *.velasystems.com

  1. Select OK and Apply

See below link for further detail.

How to resolve network connectivity problems for Fusion 360

After making this change, please re-test and let me know if it helps.

Configure the Firewall for Fusion 360 (Mac OS):

One other suggestion may be to configure the firewall. To see if the firewall is activated on your machine, If the firewall is enabled:

  1. Choose > Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy
  2. Select Firewall and note whether the Firewall is turned On or Off.

Firewall.jpg

For test purposes, you may consider temporarily disabling the firewall (Select Turn Off Firewall in the Firewall dialog).and the re-verify the behavior of Fusion 360.

To resolve any issues with the firewall, try the following suggestion

  1. Choose > Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy
  2. Click on the lock icon to unlock it, then type an administrator name and password
  3. Choose Firewall and click Firewall Options
  4. Drag the following .app files from a Finder Window to the List of applications in the Firewall Options

For Autodesk Fusion 360 version:

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/<Application ID***>/

***Note the Application ID will change with each version of Fusion 360

Autodesk Fusion 360.app

Fusion360Connection.app

NLauncher.app

NLauncherConfigurer.app

For Mac Apple Store Fusion 360 version:

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/<Application ID***>/

***Note the Application ID will change with each version of Fusion 360

Fusion360Connection.app

NLauncher.app

NLauncherConfigurer.app

~/Applications

Fusion 360.app

  1. All app files should have “Allow incoming connection” next to them
  2. Select OK and then Lock the settings
  3. Re-Test Fusion 360 and see if the behavior has changed.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or further complications.

Kind Regards,

Apple settings?  Am I in the wrong board?Smiley Happy

Can you translate this into Win 7?

I looks like I can get to myhub.autodesk360.com.  The test drawings that I created are there.  But they were probably uploaded when I was briefly connected when I was using Fusion outside our corporate network.

But it might be something I cannot alter at my level.  I have tried turning off the firewall altogether for testing.  But from what I'm gathering, it boils down to a long list of exceptions that Autodesk requires in the firewall.  This causes headaches for the network guys in charge of that.  This is a problem for other things like Autodesk 360 syncing and using the Download Manager for installing trial software, etc.

But in terms of Fusion working, I guess the software works fine.  It's the syncing of files to the cloud that may be a small problem when on a corporate environment.  Are there parts of the software that do not work if I'm working in Offline mode?  Thanks for the help.

Here you go.. translated for Windows.. Smiley Happy

Add some exceptions for the domains utilized by Fusion 360 in the Proxy Settings (Windows):

  1. Browse to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Internet Options Or go to Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options ->
  2. Browse to the Connections tab and select  LAN Settings
  3. Select Advanced [Requires that “Use a Proxy Server for your LAN...” is checked]
  4. Copy and paste the domains below in the "Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with" field:

*.autodesk.com; *.virtualearth.net; *.autodesk360.com; *.cloudfront.net; *.google-analytics.com; *.akamaiedge.net; *.amazonaws.com; *.getsatisfaction.com; *.autocadws.com; *.akamaintechnologies.com; *.msecnd.net; *.microsoft.com; *.google.com; *.edgekey.net; *.newrelic.com; *.velasystems.com

Configure the Firewall for Fusion 360 (Windows):

For test purposes, you may consider temporarily disabling the firewall (Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall) and the re-verify the behavior of Fusion 360. If disabling the firewall doesn't help, there is no need to go through the below steps. To date, I have yet to see the Windows firewall prevent connection for Fusion 360.

1. Browse to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall and select Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall

2. Select the Allow another program

3. Select Browse and select the following .exe files and Add them to the list

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<ID>\Fusion360.exe

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<ID>\NLauncher.exe

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<ID>\NLauncherConfigurer.exe

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<ID>\Win64\AdCefWebBrowser.exe

Firewall Windows.png

4. Add check boxes to the type of networks that Fusion 360 should gain access through (Domain, Home/Work, Public). Do this for each of the processes listed above.

5. Select OK

You may want to ask the IT staff if they are using proxy servers. You may want to ask them for help to configure access for Fusion 360 via the below hyperlink.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

In response to you other question, Fusion 360 includes an offline mode. Fusion 360 is designed to save to the cloud and not to work from a local drive.

Fusion 360 will keep a cache of recent projects you are working. If at anytime you loose Internet connection or are running Fusion with out a connection at all you will automatically switch to offline mode. You can run offline for up to two weeks. However, after two weeks Fusion 360 must connect to the Internet.

In Offline mode, you can:
- Edit data from your recent work
- recover a file from Crash recovery
- Save changes but no addition versions are saved while working in offline mode (last save wins).
- Create new projects and designs.
- Export Images, IGES, SAT, SMT, STL, STEP and F3D archive files.

In Offline mode, you will not be able to:
- Import/translate CAD data (The translation is performed via a cloud service)
- Use any of the collaboration tools.

There is a switch to enable offline mode located in the drop down menu on the top right.

Work Offline option.png

Offline fallback is automatic when service or network interruption occurs. Once a connection is restored, a new (single) version is created for any design that was changed while offline.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks,

Thanks Nathan,

I think adding access to our firewall is a bit more complicated task for our netowork infrastructure folks to sort out.  But we can workaround it if we can run in Offline mode for the most part and connect periodically to sync files, etc.  Thanks for your help.
