Network License - Standalone

Hi,

I've made an Administrative Installation Point (AIP) for Autodesk Inventor 2009. That was a piece of cake, so clear and how simple to configure! Big applause for the developpers.
We're using FlexLm for the licenses and put the name of the license server in the configuration..works perfect.

Now I made a second AIP, based on the first AIP ((I used the shortcut Create & modify a deployment) but instead of using the license server I choose for StandAlone. We need that second AIP for users with offline Notebooks.

The 'StandAlone AIP" works fine but if users start Autodesk Inventor, they have to Activate the product! The screen asks for the Serial/Groups ID and if they use the serial on the DVD box, a message comes that the serial is invalid!

Does anyone know how to solve the problem?

Hi,

Standalone product need to be activated.

Have you buy Standalone Inventor 2009 and/or Network
product?

Can't you just install the network deployment and get the users to borrow a license from the server when they are out?

Dear Franck,

Thanks for the reply.

As I wrote, I made the second AIP based on the first, by following the wizard. There you have the choice to make a standalone or network AIP.

We're using a license server so I think this is a network version.

But the problem is, I can't activate with the serial on the dvd box, although I could activate it for the first AIP.

Best regards,

Hi Dazzman,

Thank you, I think that's the solution. I've read some posts about the portable license utility and possibility to borrow from the license server.

Best regards,

Glad to be of help.

Watch out for the portable license utility as its only for standalone to standalone transfer if you install you network version of your Acad product and then go help about product information you should see the option to borrow a license in there or at least thats were they keep it in AutoCAD.

Hi,

If you have purchase only network version you can't install
and activate standalone version.

For people with notebooks, you must install network version
and then borrow license from within the product.

For inventor got "about.." and "product
information".
