Netware 6 and Win2kPro

Hi,

We have been running AutoCAD 2k, Mech Desktop 4 and Arch Desktop 2 on a Netware 5.1, Win98 environment for two years without a hitch. After upgrading to Netware 6 and Win2k pro this year we can't communicate with the ADLM (ipx). All server codes are correct and installed properly (New server). Anyone know of any problems with this environment?

Thanks in advance
Stevie.

Hi,

One easy thing to test is to install the License Manager tools on a client and check to see whether
they (a) see the license manager and (b) see any valid licenses. Based on this it quickly narrows
down the potential problem.

There are a few things that could have gone wrong
here.  Have you checked the AdLM log file?  The log file may help you
identify a situation where you need to get new authorization.  Another
thing to look for is to see if any of the users are 'hitting' the server and
reasons logged for the request failure.  If you do not find any log
entries, check your processes to make sure AdLM is running.  Be aware that
Autodesk does not recommend or support Élan based AdLM on Netware
servers running multiple protocols (IPX and TCP/IP for example).

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply. I installed the ADLM tools on another client and it cannot find the licence manager or the the licences. As far as I know the new server has been set up exactly the same as last year (IPX etc.).

Thanks again,
Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

Then it sounds like the problem lies with the server itself. At this point I would follow some of
Jerry's advice, so ensure that the NLM service is actually running, and then check the log file to
see if it has any clues. As this is a new server, did you apply for a new authorisation code?
