NASTRAN Installation

Good day,

NASTRAN did not run due to a missing MSVCP110.dll file on my PC.

Now I cannot try to reinstall it (install button grayed out) because some uknown installation key is still on my registry.

I need assistance on both issues please.

Regards,

Piero

Hello. Uninstall with the MSFixit tool.

Awesome tool - many different uses.

Thank you for taking part in our community!

Good day,

I'm afraid Microsoft Fixit doesn't work - I have tried it before you suggested it, not just once but several times; it cannot find which program to uninstall since I already deleted Nastran as best as I could, but, as I explained, (which clearly you did not fathom), there are still one or more Nastran product keys in some obscure Windows folder that cannot be linked to Nastran by Fixit, or any other 'patch'. That's the problem; the Nastran install wizard sees those keys and assumes it is already installed, hence the grayed out install button. Basically like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Kind regards,

Piero

I did read your initial description, but you provided no insight as to what you arleady did or how you actually uninstalled. So I understood your problem just fine.

Running the uninstall fixit tool corrects this 95% of the time. This is why it was suggested. You never said you ran it so it is my first suggestion.

Past this search for "Nastran" keys in the registry in these locations

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\

There will be two or three keys that matter, usually. Delete them and rerun the installer (installer needs to be closed when deleting the keys)
