Multiple network cards in license server

Our new server will have multiple network cards for load balancing.

When we request a new license file, which MAC address do we use?

I found this http://support.autodesk.com/Getdoc.asp?ID=TS67181 - but
that tells me nothing.

This [http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4853196]
doesn't help a whole lot either.

Jerry Milana's reply here
http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4122067
...tells me that multiple network cards are OK, but is he talking about
on the server or on the client?

TIA.

You use the one that is first displayed in LMTOOLS on the System Settings tab. It doesn't care about the other ones.

Alternately, you can clone your MAC address if you accidentally get the wrong one.

...and the LM will never switch NIC's after a reboot or anything?

Do you mean give both NIC's the same MAC address?

I've never seen the MAC address order switch on a reboot.

As for cloning, I have done it in instances where I temporarily changed to a loaner machine. But it would work if by chance you chose the wrong MAC for the license file or if for some reason your MAC address order does change.

Bascially, launch LMTOOLS and see which one is listed first and get your license file from that. Mine just happens to be my wireless card. So when it is off, my NLM doesn't work unless I clone it to the other NIC.

I've not verified it but I saw an Autodesk document once that said
either MAC would work, even if it's not the particular card in use. The
MAC isn't used to authenticate license trafic, only to verify the
licenses are on the machine you say they are.

That is correct. Just use the first one LMTOOLS lists. Regardless if it is the actual NIC that is being used, that is what LMTOOLS will look to for license verification.
