Move license server to virtual server

Hi all!

I have 2008 server with flexlm (single license server of ten Autodesk products) and other services..

With VMware ESX i obtained the server's virtualization but i have some problems..

old server= S1
new server (VMware)= S2

To use same license file i changed mac addess of S2 with MAC S1
If I start flexlm service on S2 i see all license in "perform enquiry" but i don't see the borrowed licenses and i can't use autodesk product from pc client(not borrowed).

Tell me if you need more information..

Any help can be useful!!

thanks in advance

raffaele

P.s:sorry for my english!

Your English is fine! If your status enquiry on yoru S2 shows available licenses, then your NLM is working properly. What error are you getting from your client machine? Please list the error number here. It could be a number of issues from firewall to repathing of the client to the new NLM. The error code should help narrow it down.

Therefore is it normal that I don't see the borrowed licenses?? (approximately 50)

I'll try again tonight (because during the day the students use the licenses) and I'll write the error number..

Uhmm... ping works properly from client to server... if the problem is the firewall i'll investigate

Thanks for reply!

When a license is borrowed, it will show as checked out with (Linger) beside it when performing a status enquiry. The number of seconds left before the borrowed license expires will also be shown.

Hi Raffaele, Autodesk states in the solution TS1056795 Virtual server platforms and the Autodesk Network License Manager that running the Network License Manager on virtual server platforms has not been tested; therefore, it is not supported by Autodesk.

I would recommend installing the NLM in a non Virtual server.

Cheers

No problem. We'll get you up and running. Just keep me posted. The NLM works fine on a VM when configured properly.

The link above appears to be broken. This is the correct link to the technical solution Virtual server platforms and the Autodesk Network License Manager
