Moldflow license requirements job server

I would like to know what moldflow 2013 licenses are required in the following scenario:

3- Workstations using one Job Server.

Should 3xSynergy and 1xInsight Ultimate (Job Server) be enough?

When Job Server is used to view analysis results it will consume a Synergy License?

Does Design Link 2013 licenses now includes all available translators?

Thanks,

Hello,

The number of Synergy (UI) licenses you should have will depend on a few things:

If the users are typically in the office then ideally all of the Synergy licenses would be on a central license server so they can be shared.  If this is the case then you need to have enough to support all the engineers that plan to use it at the same time.  For example, if you have 3 full time users in the same time zone then you should probably have 1 Synergy license per user for a total of 3.  If the 3 users were in different GEO's (maybe 2 in US and 1 in APAC) then you could probably get away with 2 Synergy licenses since the users in the US would not typically be using the software when the APAC user is.  It all depends on how many need access at the same time.

Some users travel a lot so they prefer to have their own Synergy licenses on their laptops.  This allows them to mash parts or view results when on the road.  If this is the case then each user would need a Synergy license since they would take the license with them when on the road, which would hinder the other users from accessing it.  So 3 Synergy licenses for 3 users in this case.

As for the Insight Ultimate license, you'll need to gauge how many analysis you plan to run at a time.  Each solver license will allow you to run up to three analyses simultaneously.  The three analyses can be distributed among the users, but only a total of three jobs will ever run at one time per solver license that is available so if you had 2 solver licenses then your group could run up to 6 jobs at a time.

Design Link was consolidated into a single product for the 2013 release so it will open Pro/E, Parasolid, and CATIA CAD file formats in addition to Rhino and NX.  Rhino and NX are completely new for 2013.

Hopefully this helps.

Thank You,

Shawn
