Moldflow license management

We have a triad Flexlm server setup for our Autodesk products. (3 server setup)
Now the Moldflow client also need a separate service on the server.
How should I proceed ?

I installed the Autodesk License Manager.
I got a new service : Autodesk License Manager (Moldflow)
Tcp and Udp port : 6014 are Listening.
Flexlm setup is ok. Is running on port 29001 and 30001.
I have read that you need a fixed port : 27000 t/m 27009 ?

If I start the Moldflow Admin tool : ampsa.exe , I see no features.
I can do a "Set servers" and type in our 3 flexlm servers, but where can i specify our port : 29001 ?

So : Flexlm server setup :
-----------------------
Flexserv1 : 29001 (Vendor daemon adskflex 30001) (currently MASTER)
Flexserv2 : 29001 (Vendor daemon adskflex 30001)
Flexserv3 : 29001 (Vendor daemon adskflex 30001)

Feature : 77300MFIA_2010_0F is O.K.

Can someone give me an explanation if I am going the right way ?

Greetings .. Richard

The NLM communication ports 27000~27009 are automatically used by the NLM. You shouldn't have to configure these at all. The vendor ports (2080 for adskflex.exe, for example) are handled by the license file. However, these shouldn't need to be modified unless there is some specific conflict. Simply creating a new service or combining compatible license files should be enough to get you up and running.

I have installed the Network License Manager on our triad server setup, but Moldflow still doesn't work. Let me explain :

We have a large collection of Flexlm licenses (over 30+) running on these three servers. So autodesk is one of them.
This is why we need to specify the flexlm ports and vendor daemon ports.

For autodesk this is :

lmgrd : 29001 and adsk.exe : 30001

We cannot change this. Now ths Moldflow service is running and is listening on UDP port 6014.

But the client still has a security error. Also if I start the Moldflow Admin tool : ampsa.exe , I see no features served ?
The lmtools with the flexlm license is o.k. All up and running.

What am i missing ... Why is this not working ?

The adskflex.exe uses port 2080 and is specified as so in the license file. I am not sure that changing this will give you the results you expect. Is there a reason you can't use 2080 for this Autodesk vendor? The LMGRD.exe will use open ports between 27000~27009 for client connectivity, which is fine.

Autodesk Moldflow licenses can be installed on any existing Autodesk FlexLM license server which uses the single or distributed server model. Autodesk Moldflow licensing does not support the redundant model.

I would recommend that you review the Autodesk License Manager Installation Guide (C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Moldflow_2011_English\adlm2011\documents\adlm2011_igd_en.pdf for 2011) then Install and configure a license service and the ampsa proxy server on a different host than that of the three hosts in the redundant quorum.

Ampsa.exe is a proxy that is installed on the same host as the license service and that sits between the license service and the Moldflow products. Communication between the license service and this proxy is done with port 2080. Communication between the proxy and the application is done through port 6014. You can find more information on this communication by referring to the section on the Autodesk License Manager (Moldflow) server/client model in the License Manager Install guide mentioned above. This section begins on page 11 of the .pdf.

The ports for the master daemon (lmgrd.exe) are any one port in the range 27000 through 27001. In an environment where there are no other FLEXlm/net license services you would let the port be chosen automatically. If you must change this you can specify the port on the first line, after the MAC address with a space between the MAC address and port, of the license file. You can choose any one port in the range 27000 through 27009 so that it is not conflicting with another service on the same host.

Replacing the redundant model with several single servers and configuring the clients for the distributed model would be a recommended alternative.

I might have a similar problem:

Our custommer runs a license server, where they have several network licenses. One of them is for Maya 2011, which can be accessed from clients without problem. They added license for Moldflow Insight Performance (AMIP) 2011 (combined the files properly). If they perform server status query from lmtools, they have the new license for AMIP 2011 available.

The problem is that the client machine can not access the license for AMIP 2011. They tried to shut down all the firewalls, double checked server name and MAC, they even tried removing the Maya license and leave only AMPI license, but still nothing. They still get the usual screen (see attacement). The Maya 2011 license still works perfectly.

If you needed any logs or anything please let me know.

Thank you for any help.

When adding licenses for Moldflow to an existing license server the license service may need to be upgraded to 11.7 and the Moldflow Installer will need to be run to install additional components on the license server.

Are they using the 11.7 version of FLEXlm? Did they install the proxy for Moldflow licensing?

This proxy sits between the Moldflow application and the license server. See Figure 2 on Page 12 of the adlm2011_igd_en.pdf. They must use the default TCP/IP ports and make sure they are open in the firewall:

2080 – Autodesk Vendor Daemon port

   6014 – Moldflow proxy port

27000 through 27009 - FLEXlm Master Daemon ports
