Missing Assemblies on Tool Palette after network deployment of Civil 3D 2013

We recently created deployments of 2013 Civil 3D (32 and 64 bit) and pushed out (with SCCM) the install to several machines. It was a success however the users are missing assemblies in their tool palettes. I have searched but only found the issue in 2010 and 2011. How can I resolve this in 2013?

I'm missing the Tool Palattes aswell. Deployed Civil 3D 2013 x64 through group policy's but only the standard toolpalettes are installed. All metric palettes are missing. I do see the names of the palettes in the menu but no icons are loaded and I cant select anything. When I run the installation through the created lnk file everything gets installed correctly.

 

Any fix for this Autodesk?

Please try the following martin.franc  and justforthispost, and let me know if any of them resolve the issue.

 

1. Modify the deployment and repair your installation of AutoCAD Civil 3D
2. Reset AutoCAD Civil 3D

3. Recreate the deployment using one of the following 72hr timed direct download links

 

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 32BIT

 

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 64BIT

I've tried all steps you've mentioned but no succes. The Content folder on the DVD's was in an other location but I've managed to find it and copy it to the adminimage. No succes. I've downloaded the complete installer you've provided but this also didn't work.

 

I need the metric toolpalettes but they don't get installed. The Netherlands palettes and the standard ones do get installed.

 

We have had 2 support cases about the issue in Civil 2011 and 2012. The Autodesk employee confirmed the problem twice and has passed it on to the developers but still no solution in the 2013 version.

After digging around a bit more, it appears that this is typically associated with a portion or component of the Content Pack failed install. Can you please check the cp_Install.log for failures.

I have checked the locations and the cab files are there. For the record I took some screenshots of the locations. I have also attached the xml file you've asked for and removed our companyname from all images and the xml file. All files are located in the zip below.

Hi,

 

Thanks for confirming that the .cab files exist. In this case, the next step to determine the cause of the behavior is to examine the permissions which could possible be blocking the cabs from unpacking.

 

What is the OS of the system where the deployment AdminImage is hosted? Please verify that the account used to launch the install of the deployment has full Admin permissions, especially in the location of the deployment and across the OS of the server.

 

Also, you can elevate the Windows Installer policy by adding the following registry key on the client workstation and the server:

 

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
"AlwaysInstallElevated"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
"AlwaysInstallElevated"=dword:00000001
 
There is additional information about this Windows Installer policy at:

Microsoft recommends that the policy be set back to "0" upon completion of the install maintenance.

 

If you would prefer not to set this policy, please make sure that the UAC, User Account Control Settings are set to the lowest level so that the install sequences are not blocked by the security.

 

Please let me know if any of these suggestions help.

As this installation is being done by group policy's the SYSTEM account is being used to install the application. This account has all the appropiate rights on the file locations and hasn't been "restricted" with UAC. It's not possible to login on a machine with this account as its a builtin Windows account. The deployment Adminimage is hosted on a Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 machine.

 

So for now I'm sorry to report that these suggestions don't help. I do not really understand why the installation works correctly when useing the .lnk file. What is the difference between that and assigning the MSI + MST files through GPO?

Hi,

 

Thank you for the update and I'm sorry that the suggestions haven't helped so far. What account is being used to launch the install when you apply through the GPO?

 

Please keep in mind that if the System account is being used, this could cause the behavior you are seeing. In this case, can you try the local Admin account to launch the install? The Content Packs will install to the account user folders for the account used to launch the install.

 

Please let me know if this helps at all.
