You need to provide information on your situation. There is really nothing to troubleshoot based on your current information. As it is now, all anyone can suggest is to uninstall and reinstall.
You say you cannot “load” mental ray. “Load” tells me this is a startup problem and not an “install” problem. This doesn’t tell us “when” you are having a problem- and this is huge.
Did you actually install? Is this an install error or a startup error?
How do you know mental ray did not register?
Is there an error message?
When do you error?
Do you have screenshot of the error?
What are your system specs?
Has this ever installed on this machine and worked?
Is your Antivirus turned off?
Are you logged in as an administrator?
If this is a “load” error, uninstall- you have a failed install. Uninstall and try to uninstall again with eth MSfixit tool:

Then install again.
If this is an “Install” error- what method of install? Browser download, Install Now, Download Now, USB drive?

If you are running a process with a file open, did you test a different or new file? What are the steps you performed to cause this issue?
