Hi Nickho1982;

   When you loaded the 2011 did you import your previous preferences? If you did then it would certainly point to an issue with the prefs folder. I would rename it for a quick test. If it doesn't work you can rename it back. Default locatoin is C:\My Documents\maya

Hi Nickho1982;

  No you shouldn't have to remove Maya to test the preferences, you simply rename the prefs folder to prefs.old and try Maya with a clean prefs. I would test the 2008 prefs first then if you want to run the 2011 you'll need to rename that prefs folder as well.

Hi Nickho1982;

   Sorry, yes please remove the gold Maya version first then install the SP 1. This is a full installation.

Hi Nickho1982;

   Sorry for the delay in gettting back to you, I'm not sure the best way to move forward with this issue. The only other suggest I have is to make a new user and see if this works under his account.

   I would also suggest that you run a virus and security scan just in case there is a virus on the machine. It's unlikely but at this point seems to be the only thing left you haven't tried.

  I will see if I can get a Service Request logged on your behalf and collect some information from you
