Maya 2013 student 64 - Initialization is taking far too long

I've downloaded the above version of Maya to my PC but when I reach the initialization stage, it says that it is 'downloading...' and underneath is an initialization bar which I had on for two hours last night but which didn't get past one dot. The same thing is happening today. Any idea what causes this or how to get around it?

What download method did you utilize? Have you tried one of the alternative methods, either Install Now, Download Now, or Browser Download?

Thanks Philip. I tried a few different versions and nothing worked. I then came to the conclusion that it might have been something to do with the Autodesk download assistant I had already installed when downloading 3DS max last year. I deleted that and managed to install the 2012 version of Maya. Thanks for your help!
