I have just installed Maya 2013 (on a machine with Maya 2011 already installed). When I try to launch Maya 2013 I get a Maya 2011 splash screen displayed (but with Maya 2013 referenced in the bottom left) and then Maya crashes with an error

I am running 10.8.5. Any ideas why this is happening? Maya 2011 is still running fine. I have previously had these two applications coexisting happily.
Can you delete Maya 2013 and install the SP here:

If the problem persists, then reset Maya by renaming the "Prefs" folder.
/MacintoshHD/users/myname/library/preferences/Autodesk/Maya/2013
The personal library folder maybe hidden so you need to 'unhide' it.
