Max crash on opening - Error loading upiconfig.xml

I recently got a blue screen "Bad Pool Header" (win7) error, the system appears to be fine now but ever since Max will not open.  The dump data shows "Error loading upiconfig.xml".  I Did a complete reinstall of Max but that did not fix the problem.  I'm at a loss as to how to approach this.   Attached is the crash data.

Thanks,

Pete

are you sure the blue screen error is fixed? i wouldn't ignore them

blue screens are usually caused by faulty hardware or a driver problem

I checked all hardware and no problems were detected. The first reboot after the BSoD things were messed up, my RAM was full though nothing was running.  I shut doiwn, unplugged the system from the wall, rebooted, checked everything and the hardware all seems to be fine.  But for some reason this "upiconfig.xml" file for max is missing?  I cant seem to find any info on this file or how to restore it.  There is also very little info on "Bad Pool Header" BSoD

I ran a restore point to a week prior to the problem with no luck.  My reseller thinks the problem may be graphics card related?  I have the most current driver in it.

try changing the graphics mode

start>all programs>autodesk> 3ds Max>change graphics mode

change it to legacy Direct3d

Just tried switching to Legacy3D, did not work.  Right after launch it errors saying "an error ocurred, the aplication will close....."

Thanks for trying, any other suggestions?

It was also suggested I try opening windows in VGA mode to test the graphics cards but Max still failed to launch.

Do you  think I would have better luck if I renewed my subscription and tried to get help that way?

i can't honestly say yes

i think this error is related your graphics card

you can try using an older driver for your graphics card

SOLUTION:  I needed to do a complete clean uninstall and reinstall of 3dsMax and clean out the registry files using these Autodesk instructions:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2887771&linkID=9240617

All is OK now

try this:

go to you Max's bin directory and rename assemblies to assemblies.ORIG.

that might get you up and operational again... It worked for me!

you'll have some subsequent problems, but I'm working with a rep to sort those out as well.

I will post more if we get to a 100% solution.

THIS DROVE ME BANANAS.
