What version of Inventor is it? What version of FlexLM?

Just use TIMEOUTALL 1800 in an adskflex.opt file to set the timeout for all your products to 30 minutes.

Also, see my other response in your other post about the licenses being consumed. Chances are that your Inventor.exe process is not being released when the program closes. Check the Task Manager and kill it if this is the case.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the timeout works with IV10? It has not
worked in IV9 and previous. It would be great if it worked the same way
as it does in AutoCad.

As far as I know. I still supply adskflex.opt files for AIS10.

It works for autocad from the AIS9, but not for inventor. Below is a
snip of my log file. All the "inactive" entrys are someone using
autocad. The inventor sessions can be left up for hours (TIMEOUTALL 900)
without timing out.

Hi,

I need some help by establishing the TIMEOUT option in network
installation of Autodesk products. It is easy to understand how to create
the Option file, but I don't understand how to implement the option
directory in license file. Could you please send me an example of how to
do this. In manual it looks like this:

VENDOR sampled /etc/sampled
[options=]/sample_app/sampled/licenses/sampled.opt ==> I don't
understand it....

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Sebastjan

It is easier than that.

Open notepad. Type the following:

TIMEOUTALL 900

Save the file in the same directory as your license .lic file and call it adskflex.opt.

Open LMTOOLS. Go to the Stop/Start/Reread tab and reread the license file. This will put the options file you just saved into effect. You can verify it in the debug log file.

Note: The file must be named exactly adskflex.opt. When saving from notepad, make sure it doesn't accidentally put a .txt at the end (i.e. adskflex.opt.txt) and especially if you have file extensions turned off. It also must be placed exactly in the same directory as your license file to work. The 900 is in seconds and is the lowest number you can use (15 mins.) You can change it to whatever else you want.

Good luck.

In fact, I will just attach the file now.

Unzip and put it in the default license location of C:\Program Files\Autoesk Network License Manager\License

(unless your .lic file is located elsewhere, of course.)
