License File Issues

I currently have 1 32bit version civil3d 2012 works great, the 64 bit version of civil 3d 2012 can't find the license file. Both have the same environmental varibles in the respective computers. Both are on the same network, and using the same server. Any ideas?

PING the license server from the 64-bit client and make sure you get an IPv4 address and not an IPv6 address.  This is the most common reason for your issue, being that your NLM is obviously working from another client.

For more information about Network License Manager connectivity issues and IPv6, please see my discussion post here:

I am getting the address back in IPv4 format and can see the shared folders the Lic files are in. Still can't get a license.

Check for firewall on ports 2080 and 27000.  These ports should be accessible to the client.  You can test them with Internet Explorer.

http://servername:2080

http://servername:27000

(Just replace servername with the hostname of your NLM server)

You should get the following display in IE:

Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60

If you get a "Page cannot be displayed" error, then you have these ports blocked.

Also consider using the FLEXLM_TIMEOUT system environment variable set to 1000000 (one-million.)

And if none of those work, delete your CascadeInfo.cas file.

For more detailed information about the CascadeInfo.cas file, please refer to the Autodesk Support Knowledge Base article found here:

I had the IT person check the ports and they were open and put in the timeout var. no luck yet. Is there any difference in the actual lic file for 64 bit as opposed to a 32 bit?

There is no difference between the platforms. What error are you getting on the 64-bit client? And have you deleted the CascadeInfo.cas file yet?

They were unable to find any.cas file. Would this have anything to do with the 64 bit deployment package being deleted after installation on the work station?

I doubt it. If there is no CascadeInfo.cas file, then your license system is not working. Check C:/ProgramData/Autodesk/Adlm.
