License Expired? Autodesk says it's good until 2011

Hello,

I have a user at my company that has got a home use license for Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2009. First time I installed it, I got the error message stating “Your license has expired. You can no longer use this product.”. So I called Autodesk to try and have this sorted out and they were of no help whatsoever.

So I uninstalled 3ds max design 09 and deleted anything related to it, in registry, in program files, and in the users folder itself. Restarted the computer and reinstalled the product. I get the same error after doing all of that.

What’s going on? I know there is an issue with 2008 and it’s the same problem but the patch availabe is only for 2008.

Does anyone have any other thoughts/ideas on how I can get past this? Autodesk told me that this license shouldn’t be expired so I don’t know what else to do.

Thanks very much,
Synt4x

Can you be more specific on the details here? Also, I don’t find any Service Requests for you with the Autodesk Business Center or with Product Support. Maybe a SR number would help me track down the status of your license so I can make recommendations.

Home use licenses are activated with an expiration date, usually one year. Is it possible a year has passed? If so you should be able to reactivate by contacting the Activations team at the Autodesk Business Center.

Hey, thank you for replying Douglas. I have called a toll free number and spoke with a rep, was transferred to someone that deals with activation and registration. I was told by Autodesk that the License doesn't expire until July of 2011.

I never opened anything because they said I would have to go through our rep that we purchase Autodesk products through.

The issue is, 3ds Max design 09 was installed, the user deleted it. I installed 3ds max design 09 again and entered in the new CDKey in. Restarted and started the program. I received the errer "Your product license has expired, you may no longer use the product, Please contact Autodesk to purchase a new key".

Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks,

Synt4x

This is what I understand the circumstance to be. You acquired a Standalone serial number for Home Use per the HULA. It was installed on a user’s home computer, activated, then uninstalled. You now want to install this on another employee’s home computer. Is this correct?

If this is the case it should be a matter of providing our activations team the Serial Number and Request Code from this other computer. They should then be able to provide an Activation Code that allows the application to be used until the license expires. However, the Autodesk Business Center or your Reseller is in a better position to evaluate your entitlement than I

It does not sound like you spoke to someone in Autodesk Support or the Autodesk Business Center. Use the contact information, for the Activations team, from my previous response and request a new Activation Code.
