Licencing Manager with Server 2008 on Hyper-V

Hi,

I have just got the disks for Autodesk Design Academy 2011.

Trying to install Licencing Manager for AutoCAD 2011 on a Server 2008 system hosted on a Hyper-V server.

When trying to run the install file from the setup screen I'm getting the following message:

"This product cannot be installed on your version of operating system".

Any advice ?

The "This product cannot be installed on your version of operating system" error typically means the installer media is for 32-bit and you have a 64-bit operating system or the other way around. It might be that you grabbed a DVD for the other bits than you have for your operating system. Look for a DVD with the other and try that or try another products DVD.

Also note that the only virtual machine that Autodesk has tested and supports is VMware ESX 3.5 Update 3. You should consider a non virtual machine for the Autodesk Network License Manager.

The license manager binds the license to the MAC address of an Ethernet device. As long as you can lock this down so it is not changing you should not have any problems but because we do not support it Autodesk cannot be of assistance if you have problems.

Hi Douglas, has there been any update regarding this issue?
If on Hyper-V virtual machine configure a static MAC is not supported?

Thanks!

Dario.

At this time there is no change.

This issue is very important to us as well. As we move away from dedicated hardware, this support is needed. It is possible to tie a VM to a physical hardware MAC. All our VMs have dedicated NICs. This is no different than a dedicated server. This lack of support is forcing us to maintain a dedicated server just for Autodesk licensing. This is expensive as we need to replace the current server soon.

Very interested in an approximate time line for this suppport.
