Language pack coverage

Hello there,

would installing the German language pack

on an international english FDS installation

also install all the German material names?

If not, where are the material libraries located?

I will need to add the German names and cus-

tom materials to the international version of

FDS.

Thanks in advance

Daniel

I tried adding the German names directly to

the InventorMaterialLibrary-eng.xlf but it did

not work. I think because of the assigned id´s.

I will try to rename them. Help is very welcome

Will changing the "file source language" have the desired

effect? There will be a global rollout and as the assets are

done in a German version there will be trouble using them

on English machines.

If i need to change all the assets to english names, is there

a way to automate this?

Oh my - I see trouble ahead

Hi,

In the Inventor \Design Data\Materials folder, there are XLF files with the translated names for each material and color style. The material names should automatically update to the active language.

This is the entry for Chrome in the deu file:

 <trans-unit id="chrome">
        <source>chrome</source>
        <target>Chrom</target>
      </trans-unit>

If you post a sample German file, I'll open it in my English version to confirm it's OK.

Loren

Hello Loren,

sorry for answering that late - I´ve been sick for almost a week.

You´re right - they should. I´ve been in touch with Mr. Richter

from Autodesk Munich and we verified this to be an Inventor

issue which will probably be handed over to the development

guys.

Custom appearances work fine as Materials do, but system ap-

pearances simply won´t work as they ought to. I´ve been medd-

ling with the XLF Files too and tried adding as well as changing

source and target values. Won´t do and is undocumented also.

Thanks for your help anyway and have a nice day. Kind regards

Daniel
