Inventor 2014 Service Pack 1 - Error 1328

Hi to all,

my situation:

-brand new laptop asus serie N with windows 8 installed

- i have upgraded to windows 8.1

- i have installed inventor 2014 student version

- it didn't work because it need the service pack 1 to work with windows 8.1

- i download  service pack 1 for 64bit and inventor 2014

- i have tried to install it, but it give to me error 1328

Similar to this:

So i have discovered this on the Great Blog Being Invective:

http://beinginventive.typepad.com/being-inventive/2013/09/inventor-2014-service-pack-1-fails-to-inst...

So i have tried all:

I have replace the helpids.xml file suggested.  > still error
I have tried to replace in the bin32 folder too. > still error
I have tried to correct it manually ( Useonline=0  or Useonline=1) > still error
I have tried to change the registry key to 0 or 1 (Enableonlinehelp) > still error
I have "repair" the software, then boot > still error

I have downgrade to  windows 8 (format to Shop Setting), install inventor 2014 (success)  and  try to install service pack 1(fail)

But error 1328 during service pack 1  in windows 8 too.

I have no more ideas.

What could i do to use inventor 2014 updated to service pack 1 in windows 8.1  (or windows 😎 ?

Thanks you,

luc

According to the error, it seems your Inventor has already been updated.  Are you certain that it is not already SP1?

 Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes very, very, sure.

Moreover in win 8.1  i can't use inv2014 because of the missing  service pack.

Never downloaded the service pack during the install process.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure because often times the SP is downloaded
during install and/or the download itself had already been SP1 updated.
That's not uncommon.

I got a new computer (Windows 7) I didn’t have any issues on the old computer (upgrade from 2011). I tried many things with no success. I don’t know if it will work without uninstalling everything (which is what I ended up doing and still got the error) but you should be able to uninstall Vault 2014 and reinstall using the feature of browsing to the service pack location. Snippet is for AE but the idea would be the same for Vault. Hope this helps someone out there.
