I am finally able to get to the installer to run but the install menu has the main Inventor program grayed out with a red international nogo sign.
I am on a WIN 8.1 system and none of the other Autodesk programs have failed to load or had problems. Inventor Pro 2014 is driving me nuts...
A week from Monday I have 120 Freshman in a CAD class the uses Inventor 2014. I recommend that students download and install the student version if they have a system. I know about the Win 8.1 error corrected by SP1 or SP2.

If you pause the cursor over the red nogo sign, what does the tool tip say?
Is your Windows 8.1 32-bit or 64-bit?
Thanks,
Danny
No response from the red nogo icon. Tried right and left mouse click as well.
I am running Win 8.1 64
Dennis
Can you post the "Autodesk Inventor 2014 Setup.log" from the TEMP folder (C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\Temp), it will have more information as to what is preventing the install from continuing.
Thanks,
Danny
With the red icon there is nothing to click on, just leave the cursor over the icon and you should see the message, similar to the attached image.
Thanks,
Danny
The red icon asked me to select my language packet to install. Failed
Tried a file clean up and another install.. failed
This attempt damaged my AutoCAD Mechanical 2014
Tried to uninstall all the above through Winzip Systems Utilities... All listed as installed but would not uninstall
Looked for Windows uninstall package.
Found Windows FixIt
Found multiple installs of ACAD, ACADM, Inventor and Lanuage Packages
Spent several hours unistalling these through FixIt
Interestingly on unistall trigeered the welcome message from Autodesk???
Finally able to install Inventor on my Laptop
Ran SP2 and everthing is OK now.
ACADM installed as well. Ran SPs.
No Idea what triggered this.
Ready to go for my 220 Freshman starting Monday.
Also have evrthing running on my new desktop. Has a 4K UHD montitor. Some minor display issues.
