Unable to proceed with installation of Inventor 2014 (64 Bit) on a Windows 8.1 system. Seems this problem has happened before as I just read a post that offered a solution by downloading a beta version of a new release candidate (SP1) on a post authored by Chuck Savatsky. This option is no longer available. What can I do.
there are multiple threads on the problems with windows 8.1

autodesk doesn't recommend 8.1 at this time: http://upandready.typepad.com/up_and_ready/2013/10/windows-81-support-please-upgrade-cautiously.html...

Try downloading one of the two service packs from this link:

I had the same problem and e-mailed support. They originally told me to download the first link "Update 3 for Inventor 2014 Service Pack 1" but I only received another error. Since I was on a bit of a time crunch, I did some searching of my own and found the link above. I had to download the second link "Autodesk Inventor 2014 Service Pack 1" and I was able to launch Inventor after that. I hope one of those downloads will work for you.
