Inventor 2010 License Expiration & Serial # Replacement

  I have a question about how to change the serial number for my copy of Inventor 2010 since its license has expired.  The internal help documentation indicates that the license files are still kept after uninstallation to avoid the redundancy of reactivating any subsequent installations.  But the website instructions say to simply uninstall and reinstall with the new serial number.  These methods don't seem to agree, so I would like to know what the exact process is since all access to the software has been locked out, except for the (un)installer.

if you are able to launch the product in demo mode, you can change the serial number in Help->about->product information

If not.

You can do a clean unistall, delete the license files manually.

license files are in

win7/vista

C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\adsk*.data

xp

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\*.data

these files are for all the Autodesk 2010/2011 products, if you delete this you will need to reactivate all the products on that particular computer.
