Installing FlexLM

I was hoping someone might have a shot in the dark about a flexlm install on
a clients machine. Here's the checklist...

(1) Windows NT 4.0 Workstation SP 5 (I realize the limit of 10 tcp
connections, we will use UDP)
(2) Existing AdLM install exists and is running
(3) Plenty of room on the C Drive for install

During the install all I want to do is install the license manager files and
tools, once it gets to actually copying the files, it blinks, and says it's
finished. I realize that it should take longer than a nanosecond to install
and find it didn't install the files at all. I tried installing to
c:\FlexLM\. I was able to install the licenses manager on a similar
workstation will no problem.

Any ideas?

The install does actually go very quickly. Do a search of the computer for lmgrd.exe. Also see if there is something in start ->
Programs -> Autodesk License Manager.

Check all of those, it seems as though it is unable to install. Similar
when you try an silent install and it flashes, with no error messages unless
you have the error log enabled.

Matt -

I've always wanted to try this anyway, so let's give it a go...

You said that you got it to install on another machine right??? Take all the files and folders in the c:\FlexLM folder (Assuming
that's where you installed it) and copy them to c:\FlexLM on the machine that you want to be the license server. Run lmtools.exe and
continue just like the instructions say. Post back and let me know what happens (anything added to the registry (that is important)
is done when the flexlm service is set up, not at install time).

Warning: I don't know that this will work, but I just moved our adlm. I'd had some of the old adlm tools already installed on the
machine where I was putting adlm and the install seemed to fail (like yours). I just copied the files from the old machine and all
was well. No guarantee!!

Just thought I'd let you know that installing the FlexLM on another machine
(same OS), then copying the files to the original machine work fine. Thanks
for all you help.
