Install Error Mac - Max 2011 - Parallels - Windows 7 "Error 1721"

Using Parallels on Mac with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit virtual machine.  Trying to install standalone from packaged DVD Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2011.  Installs DirectX Runtime Update, Backburner, and material libraries fine.  Installs 3ds Max 2011 until very end, then crashes with "Error 1721.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run."  Then attempts (poorly) an uninstall of what it's already done.

Looked in forums, FAQs, and everywhere I can think of.  This doesn't seem to be popping up anywhere.

Mac is 8 core Xeon workstation with 6GB.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

2 quick suggestions:

- if you're running a version of Windows on it like Vista or Win7, turn off UAC (the dialogs that pop up asking if you want to approve every action that Windows tries to execute). re-run the installer.

- there is a requirement on Windows machines for the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable package. it should be installed by the other apps you're installing, but you can try downloading the appropriate version (x86 or x64) from Microsoft and re-reunning the installer.

Thanks,

Shana
