Install a new license server

I want to install a new license server and remove the old one from the network. What is the best way to implement it? I already read TS1066086, but I am a bit confused in step 3 and 4.

Thanks.

Jimmy, thanks for your suggestion. What I really want to do is install the NLM in a new server and scarp the old one.

1. Install the new NLM to the server that you want.
2. Get the new license file from Autodesk activations. 1-800-551-1490.
3. Set up the license server as a service with your new license file. Verify that it works.
4. Point the client machines to the new server either by modifying the licpath.lic file and/or creating a system enviroment variable to points to the new server.
5. Disable the old server
6. Test

Basically, this is it. There are more detailed instructions posted by me and JTB all thru this forum. If you need additional help, let me know.

I am currently running ACAD Civil3D 2006 in the network, but the new license file is for Civil3D2008, how do I migrate the old license file?

Typically you would take your new license file and then copy over all
existing INCREMENT and FEATURE lines.
This would let you preserve both new and old license features.
However to make this work both licenses should work on the same machine and
you need to use the latest version of flexlm to be able to read both files.

Best regards,

Sounds like your NLM is not running correctly. Make sure that you are running it as a service and that the Status shows your licenses are valid and free. Then make sure you have connectivity from your client to the NLM. Firewall could be blocking ports 2080 and 27000. Post your results here. Your debug.log file might help.
