Info and problem on an student licensing?

I installed a 2012 3dx max with a free student license when I was in college. But now 3 years have passed and my license will be soon expired.

So I'm wondering if it possible to update it without passing to a paid license (keep the free student license)

Also the activation code that I had received when I attempt to connect, don't work and when I retry to receive a new one I got this message : You have exceeded the number of times that you can receive an activation code to reactivate your product on this computer.

In this case the only way that you could either received another 2012 license or upgrade to a newer version would be if you are still an eligible member of the Education Community.
