How do I license single seat of Autodesk Showcase 2010

I just installed a single seat of Autodesk Showcase 2010. Opened the application and no messages indicated that I needed to license the product. Talked to my Autodesk reseller last week and they say I need to activate my product license. No literature and no information in Help. Do I need to activate my single seat of Showcase 2010? How do I go about doing that.

When installing Showcase, something called DirectConnect 2010 installed. Do I need to use this to license my product?

Help!

Showcase 2010 is an unlicensed product. It will run without activation, serial number or product key.

I'm trying to install and run Showcase 2010 from our EAS suite, and it is requiring some kind of licensing, either through activating a serial number (our current one is deemed "invalid" for this process) or trying to point to our license server (which also is not working). So how do we get this to run? I think the Showcase Viewer is supposed to run without any licensing/serial numbers, but that's not what we need.

Please advise on what we need to do. Do I need a different serial number? I've also seen discussions that a different license manager has to be installed for this, with a separate license file (that cannot be combined with the current license file we have running for the rest of the EAS products).

I'm trying to install the "Professional" version, which may be the difference here... I'll try the regular version to see if it is the one that doesn't require licensing.

Thank you! Amy

Hi Amy,
Autodesk Showcase Professional 2010 and 2011 use license management. For network licensing the 2010 version of Autodesk Showcase Professional uses the Alias vendor daemon (sgiawd.exe) for FLEXlm version 11.4. If you wish to use Autodesk Showcase Professional 2010 you will need to setup separate services for Autodesk and Alias products or combine the service into one. Autodesk Showcase Professional 2011 uses the Autodesk vendor daemon (adskflex.exe) for FLEXlm version 11.8. You may wish to upgrade to the 2011 version of your suite.
There are several ways that you can set up the license services. Some use separate computers or other configurations. My preference is to set up separate services and have separate debug log files. For only the Alias and Autodesk products it is fairly simple to install and configure them on the same computer as their documentation recommends. The Alias service and the Autodesk service will by default use different TCP/IP ports therefore reducing crosstalk and other problems often encountered with multiple services.
I like to make this even simpler. If you already have the Autodesk Network License Manager for 2010 (FLEXlm 11.4) or 2011 (FLEXlm 11.7) installed drop the sgiawd.exe (attached to this post, 11.4 version) file into the Autodesk Network License Manager folder, then configure another service with the lmgrd.exe from the Autodesk Network License Manager folder, your additional license file for Alias products, and a new debug log. The important thing is that you are using a vendor daemon version that supports the product you are using with a master daemon (the lmgrd.exe) that is the same version or newer.
What troubles are you having with your network license manager? I or many of the community members can assist you with that.
