Yes, you would need a 3-node network license. You need to purchase the 3
seats of AutoCAD, but need to specify a network version, not standalone.
Note - there is a premium charged for network seats - Autodesk says it's for
the convenience the network version provides, but I really think it's their
way of getting a little back for the extra standalones they didn't sell...

these 5 seats with plot styles, menus, etc on a network server.
I have 8 engineers that need autocad periodically, but probably only 3 at a
time would need to be in autocad at the same time. Would I need a 3 node
license so these 8 engineers could share the 3 licenses? Do I have to own 3
additional seats of autocad to go with these 3 licenses? Sorry to be kind
of vague, but I really not sure how all this licensing works.
