FLEXnet Licensing error:-97,121 after moving license server vm to new host

Our ESX server failed and was replaced by a new one. I had a copy of the license server vm (2008R2) running FlexLM and moved that to the new ESX server. The license server vm is running fine, but FlexLM reports error -97,121.

 

The log file says

 

Wrong hostid on SERVER line for license file
  (path to license file)
SERVER line says 005056a7000b, hostid is 005056ae2eb8

 

What can I do to resolve this issue?

the MAC address changed you need to generate a new license file or clone the MAC address from one VM to another

Or as long as there the old mac address doesn't exist within your network causing a duplicate nic then change it to the original mac used in config for your vm.
