FlexLM license mix-up

At our sight we have various Autodesk products.

  • Autodesk Product  Development Suite
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • AutoCAD Mechanical
  • Plain AutoCAD

All of the licenses are on a single server. The server is rebooted daily. The PDS license is only for a small group (we will call the Group A) of users while the rest (Group B) are for the rest of the site. The problem is that many times the licenses for Group A go to Group B users.  It typically happens when a Group B user leaves his or her product up all night (I know shame on them!).  When the license server reboots it will give Group B users licenses that shoudl only go to Group A users.  The Group A users are left without licenses since there PDS license has already been givien to Group B users who do not even have PDS installed.

Has anyone else had this problem?  Beyond the automatically rebooting everyones machine option. Is there any suggestions on how to fix this.

Yes, you can actually control this with an adskflex.opt options file.

For eveything you could possibly want to know about the adskflex.opt Options file for FlexLM, please see my KB article here:

If you have any questions, let me know.

Good Luck!
