Flexlm can't let go...

Howdy all.

I'm having the following problem with my license server: FlexLM (9.22) is running a ACAD2005/2008 combined file (phasing out 2005). I have a timeout installed on both features (15 min). Problem is it won't reclaim the licenses. In fact, when I force the shutdown, it reclaims the licenses, then issues them again to the same users (who aren't using AutoCAD at all). We've been running like this for a few months and things were fine until this week. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Thanks in advance

For AutoCAD 2008 you need at least version 11.4 of FLEXnet.

Are you sure the licenses aren't borrowed? Also, the TIMEOUT only works when the license is idle for 15 minutes. Idle is sometimes hard to define. Make sure that the adskflex.opt file is actually loading and the TIMEOUT option is showing active in your debug log file. And if you say the users aren't using AutoCAD and they don't have the licenses borrowed, make sure that acad.exe isn't a stuck process.

And don't forget to update your NLM as JTB noted.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try them out and see if I can clear it up. It freed up 2 of the licenses over the weekend, so all is not lost, but I don't want this happening again. We do not allow borrowing (I'm probably the only one who knows this is even possible) as this is a secondary software in our office. We use MS primarily, and ACAD is more for convenience than anything.

If you havn't done so already then it's recommended that you check out the
debug logfile. It can actually answer a lot of the questions you have. Look
for the lmgrd log that is created.
