FlexLM 11.7 and fffffff

Hi. I just updated one of our servers to FlexLM 11.7.0.0 build 73797 in order to start using Autodesk 2011 products. I followed normal steps, clicked the Force Shutdown box. Stopped services. Uninstalled 11.5 Flex and installed 11.7.
We had borrowed lisc's that were listed in 11.5 and they no longer appear in 11.7. I also notice that the ethernet address box reads ffffffff instead of the server's MAC.
If I access a lisc 11.7 does show me using it. It just does not show my linger users.
Server is Win2K3 R2. With Teamed NIC's.
If i revert back to 11.5 MAC address is listed and borrowed users appear again.
Anyone have any ideas?

That is very strange indeed! You might consider updating to 11.8 and see if the problem exists there as well. It's something I'd like to know, actually. You can grab the latest version for your OS here:

My hunch is that the new version storages the information about borrowed
licenses in a different directory.

11.7 will report the MAC address as ffffffff for teamed adapters. Teamed network adapters are not supported by FLEXlm. 11.4 and 11.5 report the correct teamed MAC address even though they do not support teamed adapters. I am uncertain on how 11.6 and 11.8 report a teamed address. Did you install the 11.8 lmgrd.exe? What was the result?

You should un-team these adapters, enable a disabled adapter, or install an additional adapter and acquire a new license file for that MAC address.

It's a shame this still isn't supported in the latest version of FlexLM.

I wasn't aware that this is still an issue. Is it?

LMTOOLS v11.12.1.4 and I was getting ffffffff until we gave it a dedicated NIC.

Ah yeah that's rough. I'm pretty sure I had a fix for that at one time.

I'm just glad this thread was here, and we were able to fire up a dedicated NIC. But yes... it does suck.

True.

I wanna say you can use the GETMAC command to grab the teamed NIC's MAC.
Or alternatively, I think you can add a loopback adapter and hard code a
MAC. But if you're up and running, you are good to go. 😄

The IT guy mentioned this being something to do with Hyper-V. I don't know enough about networking to be honest.

True. Virtualization causes the same weirdness.
