I am an Inventor user (version 2010) - after working and creating all my parts and assemblies in version 2010, I decided to try download and try the demo version for Inventor 2014.
Whilst considering to make the purchase, I opened a file familar to me to see how Inventor 2014 improved over 2010.
Whilst in version 2014, I attempted to open an assembly created in version 2010 and it prompted me to reassociate parts in the assembly. After reassociating the files which were created in version 2010, I saved the new version of the asembly as a 2014 version (a seperate version). The file opened fine and i was able to work in the program with no problem.
The trial has ended and I have uninstalled the demo version. When I returned to my original (2010 version) assembly, I can no longer open it. It prompts me again to reassociate the part files. I try to with no luck. I am also unable to open the individual part files with the following error prompt: "Database schema is newer than this version of the software"
I need access to these parts and the assembly. Can anyone assist?
Thanks
Alyne Rankin
sounds like those parts were saved in the 2014 version if thats the case hopefully you have a back up
you can't open 2014 files in 2010 without exporting to a .step file but you will lose the feature history
