Fatal Error during installation

I installed the trial version on my laptop (runs Vista) in the middle of December.  I then uninstalled the trial version and tried to reinstall with my serial number and it won't work.  I keep getting a fatal error message.  Anybody had this problem?  I've removed everything, including deleting the registry files, and I it still won't work.  Help please!!  What's causing the fatal error?

Please attach the install.log file which can be found in the TEMP folder of your machine. THis could provide vital information

on the crash.

I ran a registry cleaner last night and managed to get it to run correctly.  I found instructions on another post that helped me.  Thanks!
