Error of new install of AutoCad

Presently on assignment in China.

Laptop crashed, used Win XP Pro in English, with all updates.

Reinstalled Win XP Pro in Chinese, with all upates. (No XP Pro in English available)

Cleared AutoCad from Programs on 😧

Have my original AutoCad 2004 disk, S/N and Auth code.

Installs fine, English selected, with S/N.

Upon run - Failed - error message: Unable to run AutoCad contact local reseller.

FATAL ERROR:  Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x7eef6048 Exception at 360088a0h.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks

Jay

There could be two major reasons behind the crash.

1. Corrupt AutoCAD Program Files

2. Corrupt Operating System Files/Hard Dirve

For the meantime I suggest you try opening AutoCAD in Disgnostic Mode as per the lonk below:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=6453117&linkID=9240817

If it works fine in diagnostic mode, then some other program maybe conflicting with the application, else if could be a

corrupt installation of AutoCAD. If an Uninstall and Reinstall of AutoCAD fails, it could be the operating system causing the

crash and may need a reload.

Thanks Vivek,

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Steps I have taken.
Uninstalled AutoCad
Uninstalled Malwarebytes
Uninstalled Avast
Cleaned registry/laptop with Advanced System Care
Ran Hitman Pro 3.5
Have manually removed all references to AutoCad 2004 on C & D plus any registry value entries
(as they were not removed by ASC).

Have also uninstalled MS .NET Framework 1.1 + Chinese Language Pack.
Kept 2.0 SP 2 + Chinese Language Pack, 3.0 SP 2 + Chinese Language Pack.
Removed RAM and HD, cleaned contacts, blew out out dust from laptop & reinstalled.

Restart

Reinstalled Autocad on Drive C:\Program Files this time, no issues.
Run - gets same disclaimer to contact dealer.

DDE Server Window: acad.exe FATAL ERROR
0x360088a0 Unhandled Access Violation reading 0x7eef6048.

So is this a memory problem, RAM or what?

Installed AutoCad in English with no problems on a totally Chinese laptop using XP Pro, MS .NET Framework 2 & 3 + Chinese Language Packs, just to test if the disk was bad.
I'll try what you suggest and report back.
Thanks,
Jay

It would be useful if you could also attach the screen shot of the error message

You coauld try cretaing another user (with Administrative/Full rights) to see if the application runs well.

Apparently, there has been one other issue reporting of the same error message while installing AutoCAD 2004 on

Windows XP Chinese in which it is mentioned that AutoCAD cannot run as intended under such circumstances.

Hi Vivek,

This really has me baffled. I even changed my RAM in case that was a problem.

I'm installing as an Administrator on my laptop only.

Have run every diagnostic tool possible to find the source of the error to no avail.

I've successfully installed AutoCAD 2004 in 4 different computers, all using Chinese XP Pro to test.

1 - new laptop

1 - 2 year old laptop

2 - 3+ year old desktops

Each loads and runs without a glitch, I can register and use any of them in English, load and edit previously created drawings before the crash and blue screen of death.

I'm waiting for a XP Pro disk in English, will install and see if that cures it, will reinstall XP Pro in Chinese as well.

Thanks for your help and patience - I'll keep you posted on my results.

Jay
