Dual License Servers?

We currently have one machine running FlexLM service for all our autodesk licenses. .

We would like to have the Network License Manager running on another server as well so that if one goes down the other automatically kicks in and deals out the licenses, is this possible?

If not what is the best way of backing up/recovering if the server dies?

Thanks in advance, Leigh

This document describes the difference between redundant and distributed
license servers.

I have always used distributed license servers and getting a new license if
you need to move to another server have always been quick to do with the
AutoCAD Network License Activation Utility.

Thanks, I think distributed license servers looks like the way to go, however I cant find a way of splitting my 25 into 15+10.
I've installed NLM on my new server, run the Activation Utility, entered my network license serial number for AutoCAD and I get "The serial number you entered is not valid for the product you are trying to activate. Try again. (Error 123)"

FWIW - I just call our reseller when a new LIC file for the LM is
needed. They take care of us....

You should be aware that distributed license servers is a bit more hassle to
setup. The results and experiences can vary as well.
There are lots of companies who have previously had issues with this setup.
Previous versions of flexlm were quite flaky with this feature. Most often
the system would get confused and leave it in a non-working state. I've seen
that so many times.

Henrik Goldman
