Commands "units" and "new" not recognized.

Hi Folks,

I have a 20 seat network version of 2002 installed.

The "units" command and "new" commands are not recognized ON ONLY SOME
MACHINES.

The rest of the machines work fine.

Server is NT4 Server sp6a, the clients are Win98SE.

Any thoughts?

Mike

Jason,

If client deployment means the executable is loaded from the server each
time they start Autocad, then it is client deployment.

I'm not up on the jargon.

Thanks,

Mike

Michael-
If the acad.exe is on the server then it is a network install. If the acad.exe was run
from a local drive it would be a client deployment.

Is the acad.exe on a Win server or some other type (since some of the clients are working,
the problem probably isn't with the server, but the client, so it really shouldn't
matter).

My guess would be that some of the files in Program files\Common files\Autodesk shared are
in some way "damaged". I'd recommend that you uninstall and re-install the "image" for one
of the clients that isn't working. (If you've already customized the profile and gotten
everything just the way you want it, then export the profile to a file first and you can
put it back after you've re-installed.)

You could also try windiffing one of the working machines autodesk shared with one of the
non working machines autodesk shared. Try copying the different files from the "good"
machine to the "bad" machine. See what happens.

This could also be a registry entry problems. You could try exporting the autodesk
portion of the registry from a good machine, deleting the autodesk portion of the registry
from a bad machine, and then applying the "good" registry to the "bad" machine. As always
WARNING: Editing your registry in any way, shape, or form can cause extreme damage to your
computer and it may not like you any more. If this goes poorly at all then you will likely
have to remove autocad manually and re-install, but I've already told you to try that
anyway. BTW if you try the reg copy thing, I'd almost guarantee that it would NOT be
supported by autodesk.

If it were me (and it's not, and I have no concept of your work environment), I'd start
playing with adesk shared and reg entries. The machine is already not working. What's the
worst that's gonna happen? I have to re-install autocad?? I've got to re-install the OS?
I may need to do both those things to get it working anyway, so play with it and see what
you can find.

Probably not the answer that you were looking for??? Sorry.

I will try some of your suggestions.
